Visitors to the British Equine Event at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh, Warks (3-4 November) will get the chance to meet Vet’s in Practice star, Sally Kingsley.
Sally will be talking to horse owners about the latest advances in wound management as part of the Healthy Horse Focus. Sally will hold lecture/ demonstrations on bandaging and dressing wounds, how to use routine therapies, such as poulticing, the ideal environment for healing and when to call the vet.
As well as staring in the successful TV series and being a full-time vet, Sally is also a keen event rider. She describes her advanced eventer, Polaris – a 16.3hh Connemara/Thoroughbred gelding – as “the most beautiful male in my life”.
However, her job always comes first. “If I’m eventing,I get up at 5.30am, ride, go to work and go to the gym in evening, and then go out in the evening. I get along on about six hours sleep a night, but now and again I have a massive long sleep.”
Sally’s ambition is to further her television career, but also enjoys chatting to members of the public: “I would love to do more TV work,” she says.
The Healthy Horse Focus, a joint initiative between the Royal Agricultural Society of England and Robinson Animal Healthcare, will also include demonstrations on the correct fitting of saddles, bridles and rugs and the use of travel and exercise bandages.
