Country sports supporters, dog enthusiasts and racing fanatics who are looking something special for Christmas can now choose from more than 200 historic sporting engravings on a new website launched by the Countryside Alliance.
The Countryside Gallery collection is divided into the main subject areas of hunting, fishing, shooting, point-to-point and racing, rural life and leisure time.
Dogs and horses are also strongly represented among the hand-coloured, hand-pulled historical prints.
Artists include such masters as Sir Alfred Munnings and game bird specialist Archibald Thorburn. A small selection of military paintings is also available.
The pictures, all framed, mounted and glazed to the highest standards are priced between £80 and £340, including delivery and VAT.
A brief history of each picture and a biography of the artist are included on the site along with a “learning” section outlining the history of sporting engravings, the various engraving techniques, andthe traditional materials used.
