Stunt riders from Hollywood blockbusters will reveal some tricks of the trade on a unique holiday course
If you’ve ever wondered how you get a horse to sit or lie down, bow or rearwhile you’re still on, then you may have the chance to find out.
Stunt team Horsemen of the Apocalypse, led by Ian van Temperley, is offering riders the chance to learn movie-style stunts as part of a holiday run by the Equestrian Centre Hotel, near Chester.
Mike Tytherleith, who runs riding holiday courses at the centre, first discovered the team after his 16-year-old daughter, Emma, spent the day with them.
The Apocalypse Experience course will include two lessons in the morning – one flatwork and the other jumping – and guests will get the chance to learn stunt tricks in the afternoon.
“As long as riders are secure in canter and reasonably fit, they can do the course. The horses used for the stunt work are so well-schooled, it is totally safe. Ian only has to whistle to the horses and they stop,” explains Mike.
The courses will run for five days from 31 March, 28 April, 2 June.
The cost, which includes accommodation, meals and riding is £450 for adults and £355 for children (aged from 12-17).
