Ribbons for jumping stallions

  • All stallions competing at affiliated show jumping shows must wear a striped ribbon in their tail from 1 May

From 1 May, every stallion competing at a BSJA show must wear a red, white and blue-striped ribbon in its tail. The stallion ribbon, which has been specially designed for this purpose, will be available from BSJA headquarters.

The rule has been introduced to increase safety at competitions, where stallions, mares and geldings are in close proximity when sharing warm-up areas.

The original rule required stallions to have red ribbons in their tails, but has been changed due to it’s popular use with animals which kick.

The BSJA will provide three metres of the “stallion ribbon” to any stallion owner on receipt of a self-addressed envelope and a cheque for £2.

For more information contact BSJA (tel: 02476 698800).
