Competitors from more than 50 nations will be competing at the World Equestrian Games next month
Competitors from 53 nations are preparing to battle for the title of world champions in show jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting and reining at the first World Equestrian Games of the new millennium in Jerez, Spain from 10-22 September.
The most popular discipline at the games will be show jumping, which has attracted entries from 41 nations. The endurance competition will see 38 nations competing, with 29 in dressage, 27 in eventing and 21 in vaulting. And, although the driving and reining competitions have only gained interest from17 and 14 countries respectively, a highly competitive event can be expected in all disciplines.
Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and USA will be sending teams or individuals to compete in all of the seven disciplines.
In addition, riders and drivers from the following nations will also be taking part in the games:
