Take part in Burghley’s charity ‘Dogathon’ and help raise funds for the National Canine Defence League and the Animal Health Trust
Visitors to this year’s Burghley Masterfoods Horse Trials (29 August-1 September) are being encouraged to bring their dogs along on the final day for a charity ‘Dogathon’ which aims to break records and raise money for the National Canine Defence League and the Animal Health Trust.
Burghley’s title sponsor Masterfoods, the makers of Pedigree dog food, has organised the event so visitors can spend the morning walking their dogs around the beautiful lake in Burghley Park before making the most of the fantastic shopping and watching the last day’s exciting show jumping action.
The walk starts at 10am on Sunday and is approximately 3.5kms long, although owners may choose to walk round the route up to three times. Entry to the event for yourself, plus one human companion, not forgetting your dog and basic sponsorship is £25.
All participants will receive a free Pedigree goodie bag. Raising additional sponsorship is encouraged, with a once in a lifetime prize, courtesy of Masterfoods, on offer to the person who raises the most money.
More than 4,000 dogs are expected to take part in the charity walk, which hopes to break the record for the largest number of dogs gathered in one place on one day.
