Windsor Horse Trials substitute

  • Fans of Windsor International Horse Trials, which were cancelled this year to provide a new look for 2004, can enjoy a taste of the event’s special atmosphere at a unique raceday at Windsor Racecourse on Monday, 14 July.

The day starts at 12 noon with the young event riders’ show jumping final, followed by a clash of the Titans designed to offer a warm up to the Eventers’ Grand Prix, which takes place the following week at Hickstead.

Event riders and show jumpers will compete for a £500 first prize over a course that mixes show jumps and cross-country fences.

There will be a full programme of flat racing during the evening, and, between races, there will be news, views and interviews from the world of eventing, including a parade of champions and a rare opportunity to witness the highly successful training techniques of performance manager Yogi Breisner.

To round off the evening, there will be a charity dinner and auction in aid of the Princess Royal’s Association for Carers.

Horse & Houndreaders can take advantage of a special advance ticket price for the day and evening – £15 for the show jumping and Invitational Eventers’ Grand Prix plus the evening’s racing, which begins at 6.30pm (gate price £18). Tickets must be ordered in advance by 8 July.
