Eight riders have been short-listed for the British dressage squad at the European Dressage Championships, which takes place on home soil at Hickstead on 13-17 August.
Potential members of the team include Richard Davison (Ballaseyr Royale) and Emma Hindle(Wie Weltmeyer), who were the best of the British at Aachen CDIO recently, qualifying for the kur and finishing in 11th and 15th places respectively.
The short-list also includes:
- Nicky Barrett (Giorgio S)
- Fiona Bigwood (Habana3)
- Emile Faurie (Rascher Hopes)
- Carl Hester (Escapado)
- Nicola McGivern (Active Walero)
- Laura Richardson (Millenium)
British dressage’s Olympic hopes rest with the final squad, which must finish as one of the top two teams outside those that qualified at WEG last year, or miss the dressage at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
Germany, USA, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland have already qualified for Athens.
