Hay and carrot thefts prompt ‘horse hunt’

  • A Cornish community has found itself in the midst of a “horse hunt“following a bout of hay and carrot thefts.

The greedy suspect pinched seven hay and straw bales and a sack of carrots from a stables at Burnthouse, Penryn, earlier this month. And just a week later 14 bales of hay were taken from Tretheague Farm in Stithians.

“I think we are looking for a horse,” said Detective Constable Rick Milburn from Falmouth police station.

But other items to have been stolen in the thefts include an assorted mix of power tools.

So perhaps the police should be narrowing their search to two-legged culprits — such as people with a penchant for root vegetables and strong night vision?
