Farewell to… a great horseman and hunting stalwart

  • Mark Chambers, the renowned Cheshire horseman, died on 15 March in Macclesfield Hospital. He was 82 and had been ill for some time.

A respected dealer and competitor, Mark’s first love was hunting. In 1999 he was presented with a silver fox by the Cheshire Forest, to commemorate 50 years of whipping-in to the hunt. He retired from the sport a few years ago.

Mark was predeceased by two of his three children: his son Marcus was killed in a hunting accident 26 years ago and the pony producer Jane Beswick died suddenly last February.

He is survived by his second wife Margery and daughter Beverley.

His funeral is at St Lawrence’s Church, Over Peover, on Tuesday, 26 March at 2pm.
