A new Brightwells auction will take place at Addington Manor, Bucks, on 11 June.
The sale is designed to offer horses in a lower price bracket than the biannual Stars of the Future sales — which are set to be rebranded Elite sales.
Horses will be sold under the hammer at the new sale pending vettings — which will be set at around £180 and will take place on site immediately after the sale at the purchaser’s expense.
The entry fee for the new summer sale is half that of the Elite auctions, at £250.
Brightwells’ commission has also been cut from 10% to 6% of the hammer price.
“We’ve restructured the sales, as we saw lots in the Stars of Future sales making £3,000-6,000, which isn’t financially viable for vendors in the cost ratio of those sales,” explained auctioneer Richard Botterill.
“The sale will provide a new opportunity for British breeders and producers, giving more people the chance to sell at Addington under the banner of the most successful sport horse sales in the country.”
The sales will be for two-year-olds and upwards and, unlike at the Elite sales, three-year-olds need not be presented under saddle. Brightwells envisages the majority of horses will fetch £2,000-12,000.
