Breeding experts to join forces next month

  • Experts in the breeding industry — including breeders, vets, academics, policy makers and students — will come together next month at a forum to discuss the science of equine reproduction.

The Colloquium for Equine Reproduction” (CFER) will be held on Wednesday 17 April at the University of Nottingham.

And this year the event will take place alongside the British Society of Animal Science (BSAS) annual conference.

CFER is an initiative set up and run by the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) at Aberystwyth University.

The 2013 forum — sponsored by EGGTech Ltd — is set to build on the success of its previous events by joining forces with the BSAS.

“We are delighted that CFER 2013 has joined the BSAS family because we share a common philosophy — to communicate good science to all in a friendly, enjoyable meeting,” said Dr Debbie Nash at IBERS.

The BSAS conference sees scientists discuss the latest research in livestock production, health and welfare and will offer the chance for greater discussion for CFER around the issues affecting horse breeding.

Dr Nash added: “Whether they are from large commercial stud farms or owners of one or two brood mares, a very warm welcome awaits all delegates to CFER 2013.”

The event will take place from 12.30-5.30pm and the registration fee is £60 per person which includes lunch and afternoon tea.
