New forces equine league set up for showjumping servicemen

  • Members of the police or military that love to showjump will now have more opportunities to compete in the sport.

British Showjumping (BS) has set up a Forces Equine League, alongside the Club Leagues to offer a level playing field for servicemen.

BS has teamed up with Forces Equine — an organisation for the armed forces and police. It works for riders in the forces, as well as their family members, aiming to help them compete in horse sport, despite heavy workloads and travel commitments.

The league will consist of a dedicated national league for Forces Equine members who will be able to compete wherever they are posted — with points being registered on both the Forces and BS Club League tables.

This partnership also aims to support the military saddle clubs in the UK and BS intends to offer training for staff at these facilities, so they can hold Club shows.

The Forces Equine League will run from January to December.
