The National Pony Society (NPS) has sought to reassure members ahead of an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on 16 December to discuss major changes to the way the charity is run.
Since chief executive Peter Durrant resigned earlier this year, the NPS has been overseen by a salaried “change manager”, David Ingle — who has sought to address a deficit of £60-98,000.
But six of the society’s 14 council members have resigned in recent months.
Some members have engaged in what the NPS describes as “conflicting gossip” on social media sites.
A spokesman for the NPS said the EGM was the better place to discuss the changes.
“It is about trying to preserve the society for the future and get to grips with an unravelling situation,” he said.
The EGM will be held at the Motorcycle Museum, Solihull at 11am on Sunday,
16 December.
