Racing fans will hold their breath this afternoon (Wednesday 22 August) as unbeaten superstar Frankel bids to win his 13th consecutive race.
The Sir Henry Cecil-trained four-year-old is stepping up in trip and will be running over 10 furlongs for the first time. He will be ridden by regular jockey Tom Queally – who has partnered Frankel on his previous 12 wins.
Frankel will be up against eight others in the Juddmonte International on the first day of York’s Ebor Meeting. Though he’s set to go off 1-7 favourite, his main rival looks likely to be the Aidan O’Brien trained St Nicholas Abbey, who is proven over longer distances than Frankel and won the Group One Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup (1m4f) at Epsom on 2 June.
The race will be shown on Channel 4 at 3.40pm today.
