A showjumping enthusiast from Lancashire is the latest candidate to be fired from BBC 1’s “The Apprentice”.
Twenty-five-year-old Jenna Whittingham was the ninth contestant – out of 16 that started the competition – to leave tycoon Lord Sugar’s boardroom empty handed.
Aged 12, Jenna competed in the Junior Newcomers Final at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) on her pony Local Lad.
She now has a six-year-old gelding, Bouchard (Prince) who was competed by Nicola Bampton during filming. “When Prince knocked a pole, Nicola found commentators saying ‘You’re fired!‘,” Jenna told H&H.
Since leaving the show Jenna has opened a second branch of her Preston beauty salon, “Beauty and the Boutique”.
The contestant found living away from home one of the most challenging parts of the experience. “I’ve never been away for longer than a week before,” she said. “I’m used to living in the countryside and riding horses, and so living in London was a big culture shock.”
Nicola had success with Prince in Discovery and Newcomer classes during the programme and Jenna now hopes to try some dressage with him.
