Farewell to… German dressage coach Schmezer

  • International dressage has paid tribute to German team coach Holger Schmezer, who died suddenly during the World Cup dressage finals in ‘s-Hertogenbosch last week.

The 65-year-old had coached the Germans for 11 years. He was found dead in his hotel room on 19 April.

A minute’s silence was held for Mr Schmezer before the grand prix prize-giving at the show last Friday (20 April) and his team riders wore black armbands in his honour.
