‘Beautiful bottomed’ horsefly named after singer Beyonce

  • Sultry popstar Beyonce has a new – not so glamorous – horse-related claim to fame.

Scientists in Australia have named a horse fly after the singer, because of its “attractive” backside.

The Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae fly, found in north Queensland was first collected in 1981 – the year of Miss Knowles birth, but has only just been named.

Apparently the researchers named it after the diva because of the “unique dense golden hairs” on its abdomen.

    We’re sure she’s really flattered!
