William Fox-Pitt followed up his Burghley triumph last weekend with success in the CIC*** for eight and nine-year-olds at the Fidelity Investments Blenheim Horse Trials, leading from pillar to post on Oslo.
The Lando-sired nine-year-old just added 1.2 time-faults to his 43.3 dressage mark to hold off second-placed Sarah Cohen and Treason. Sarah and the nine-year-old Treason also filled the same spot in last year’s competition.
William was also third on Lionheart, again picking up 1.2 time-penalties across country to complete on 49.1.
“I’ve always been excited about this pair,” said William. “They are quite different – Oslo is cheeky and outgoing while Lionheart is studious and eager to please.”
Ireland’s Ciaran Glynn completed on his dressage score of 50 to take fourth place on Don’t Tell Punch, while Caroline Powell also kept a clean sheet and rose from 22nd after dressage to fifth on 54pen with Onwards And Upwards.
Three-star debutants Michael Jackson and the Jumbo-sired Jagganath finished sixth on a score of 55.5.
Mark Todd and NZB Campino, second after dressage and showjumping, had a run-out across country and dropped out of the reckoning.
