The first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s eagerly-awaited version of War Horse has been released — and there’s already talk of Oscar glory.
And if the trailer is anything to go by, it looks as if Joey, the equine star of the show, will get plenty of time on the big screen.
The film, based on the massively successful stage play, is due for release at Christmas and the world’s most famous director appears to have given it his usual treatment, with sweeping war scenes and an emotive and stirring score from iconic composer John Williams.
Each of Mr Spielberg’s three Academy awards to date has been won for war films and, excitingly for Brits, the cast is made up of homegrown talent in the shape of Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, David Thewlis and Emily Watson.
Meanwhile, at New York’s Tony awards earlier in the month, War Horse scooped five awards, including best play.
