With less than 24 hours to go until the royal wedding (Friday, 29 April), speculation continues to mount over what design of wedding dress Kate Middleton will be wearing when she marries Prince William.
And now betting exchange Betfair has got in on the act by commissioning a special set of racing silks for the happy couple.
Betfair’s Alex Bake said: “The whole world wants to know what they will be wearing on their big day, Kate in particular. Speculation over who would be designing their outfits prompted us to throw our hat into the ring and create something truly unique for the occasion.”
Focusing on classic wedding dress styles, the bridal silk features lifted shoulders, puffed upper sleeves and an oversized bustle bow, all offset with elegant satin gloves. The safety helmet is wrapped in a champagne coloured satin cover, and features a feather fascinator and sloping brim.
Prince William’s Household Cavalry uniform provided the influence for the groom’s silk. The black and blue, double-breasted top is complimented by gold detailing on the buttons and leafy lapels. In a telling nod to Wills, the gentleman’s helmet features a Lieutenant’s badge.
The silks will be modelled at Doncaster tomorrow ahead of Betfair’s sponsored race, the Will They Marry Furlong handicap at 3.35.
