Kyra Kyrklund is not new Swedish dressage team trainer

  • Rumours that Finnish Olympian Kyra Kyrklund has been appointed as the Swedish dressage team trainer are untrue, she told H&H.

The online news site Eurodressage posted a story saying that Kyra Kyrklund would be taking over the role from German trainer Hubertus Schmidt, following his resignation.

However, Kyra, who was on holiday when the article came out, denied that she had any contract to train the Swedish team.

“I am not going to be the Swedish team trainer,” Kyra, who will continue to live in West Sussex, told H&H. “I will help with training the riders in Sweden, but this is not an official appointment.”

Kyra does have a history of working in the Scandinavian country.

In the 1990s, she was head trainer at Sweden’s Flyinge Stud, working alongside current Swedish chef d’equipe, Bo Jena.
