Brush up on animal parasitology at a zoo near you

  • Merial will be offering continuing professional development (CPD) events covering equine and cattle parasitology, fleas and ticks at two zoos in March 2011.

Twycross Zoo in Atherstone, Warwickshire, will host the first event on 15 March, and the speakers will then relocate to Bristol Zoo, Avon on 16 March.

Leading parasitologist Professor Jacqui Matthews of Moredun Research Institute, Edinburgh, will kick off proceedings with a presentation on the latest developments in equine worming.

Dr Emma Batson will also be on hand to deliver the latest results of the Eqvalan worm egg count programme.

These sessions will be followed by advice on flea and tick control for cats and dogs and a presentation on cattle parasitology.

Following both events there will be free time to explore the zoos.

The events are open to all suitably qualified persons (SQPs) who are qualified to sell wormers and attendees will receive 26 AMTRA accredited CPD points.

To register, contact Marisa McCarthy on 01279 775851 or email marisa.mccarthy@merial.com.
