The glitterati of the horse world came together last night (4 November) for the 22nd UK Equestrian Awards in London.
The annual awards, hosted by the Animal Health Trust, are the culmination of the equestrian year, and 2010 has given British horse sport a lot to celebrate.
The British Showjumping Award was won by the Children on Horses team (pictured), who brought home team gold for a fourth successive year, from the Children’s European Championships.
The Animal Health Trust team award was given to the entire Team GB at the World Equestrian Games, who proved themselves the best in the world, bringing home 19 medals.
Champion jockey, and prospective BBC Sports Personality of the Year, AP McCoy crowned his Grand National year by winning the Martin Collins special award.
Other worthy winners were champion trainer Richard Hannon, who won the Litovet Racing Award and FEI 5-star dressage judge Jane Goldsmith, who beat Laura Bechtolsheimer and Sophie Wells to the Vion Food UK Dressage Award.
BE volunteer Margaret Churchill won the Jacksons [CI] Limited Eventing Award and former BHS chairman Patrick Print won the South Essex Insurance Brokers Voluntary Service Award.
The Petplan Equine Vet of the Year Award was won by Worcester vet David Denny, who has been in general practice since 1973.
