A horse has been rescued from a collapsed mine in Chile.
The horse, called Payasito, or Little Clown, fell down a 25m crevice trapping him half a mile below Chile’s northern Atacama Desert.
The horse was at Camp Hope, where the families of 33 miners trapped down a mine since 5 August, when he wandered off.
He fell into the gold and copper mine and was lost for 16 days before his owner Jeis Alvarado found him lodged in the El Rosario mine.
The horse was rescued using a makeshift pulley and was unhurt. He has been dubbed the “34th miner”.
Reports suggest the 33 miners will now be rescued by 12 October and drilling has been successful.
