British para-riders prepare for World Equestrian Games

  • The British para-dressage team is heading to Norfolk tomorrow (Thursday 2 September) as part of its preparation for the World Equestrian Games (WEG).

Grade Ia riders Anne Dunham, Sophie Christiansen, Emma Sheardown, grade Ib riders Lee Pearson and Ricky Balshaw, grade II Jo Pitt and grade IV Sophie Wells will all be going to Kentucky later this month for WEG.

As part of their training they will stay at Easton College in Norfolk for two days (2-3 September).

On Friday night they will take part in a competition among themselves, performing their WEG tests in front of British Dressage judges.

“We’re really lucky to have them visit,” said Easton College equestrian centre manager Hilary Francois.

“It’s great to get our para-riders to East Anglia. We have 400 people coming to watch the competition on Friday, it will be a totally different atmosphere for the riders and good preparation for WEG.”
