Two former employees of horse transport service Pedens Bloodstock Ltd have set up their own shipping agency.
James Luck and Lucy Greayer, who between them spent 19 years with Pedens, have formed Luck Greayer Bloodstock Shipping Ltd — which is operating out of Upper Lambourn.
“There’s been no fall-out with Pedens, we’ve just branched out alone and have set up our own shipping agency,” said James Luck, who worked for Pedens Bloodstock International Shipping Agents for 15 years.
James dealt with both sports horses and thoroughbreds — working on every World and Olympic Games since 1994, and shipping horses to destination from Bermuda to the Philippines.
His new business partner, Lucy Greayer, worked for CBA in Newmarket before joining Pedens four years ago, where she handled horses for the Breeders Cup, Canadian International, Melbourne Cup and Japan Cup, among others.
The new company will ship horses domestically and internationally, by land, sea and air.
“This is a really exciting new venture and we have both been overwhelmed by the goodwill and support that we have received both from the racing and breeding industry, and from our network of agents across the globe,” said James, adding that rumours had been rife of a disagreement between Pedens Bloodstock and its the two former employees.
“Nothing could be further from the truth,” he said. “There’s been no falling out, we’ve just broken away and are running our own service.”
