Eventing safety changes to be made this season

  • Frangible pins on cross-country fences will be fitted in a different way from the beginning of this eventing season, British national safety officer Jonathan Clissold revealed at the International Eventing Forum at Hartpury on 8 February.

The arrangement involves pinned rails being fixed on the landing side of supporting posts, rather than the take-off side.

Course-designers are also considering using thinner rails to make jumps command more respect from horses and riders.
