FEI sets up fund to help international riders in Haiti


  • The Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) has set up a fund for Haiti and is encouraging any donations.

    Since the earthquake shook Haiti a month ago, the equestrian community has been working hard to contribute to the recovery efforts.

    Now the FEI helping to rebuild the sports movement in Haiti by setting up a donation fund.

    As reported by Eventing magazine this month, before the earthquake struck US event rider, Allison Springer, was in the process of training the Haitian eventing team for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games CIC* in July.

    The team, and their horses, all survived the quake in January and the money raised by the FEI will help teams like theirs get back onto the competitive circuit.

    The money will be distributed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO) to assist with re-establishing national and local sport facilities in Haiti once conditions permit.
