Former director of Horse & Country TV (H&C TV) Nick Ludlow is taking the TV station to an industrial tribunal next month, accusing the company of unfair dismissal.
H&C TV made losses of £1.3m in the year to April 2009.
Mr Ludlow, of Alvechurch, Worcs, left H&C TV in April 2009.
Mr Ludlow founded H&C TV in 2007 with help from backers including British Eventing, British Showjumping, British Dressage, Parelli Natural Horsemanship and Matchmakers.
Australian TV executive Heather Killen bought the majority stake in the company in December 2008 and Mr Ludlow was made redundant around six months later.
Matchmakers and Parelli terminated directorships of H&C TV in December 2008.
A spokesman for Mrs Killen confirmed H&C TV had made losses of more than £1m in the year to April 2009 but said figures for the current year would be better.
Neither she nor Mr Ludlow wished to comment on the tribunal, which takes place on 15 February in Birmingham.
H&C TV moved from Stoneleigh to Cwmbran last year with a £400,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly.
