Man charged with murder of teenage jockeys who died in Malton fire

  • A man appeared in court this morning (Friday, 27 November), charged with the murder of two jockeys that died in a fire in Yorkshire in September.

Teenage jockeys Jamie Kyne and Jan Wilson died in the early hours on Saturday 5 September when their flats in Malton caught fire.

Peter William Brown, 37, appeared before Scarborough Magistrates Court today and has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 4 December.

Mr Brown was arrested in September but released on bail last month and rearrested on Wednesday (25 November) in connection with the fire.

Nineteen-year-old Jan Wilson, who worked for trainer David Barron, turned profession last winter.

Jamie Kyne, 18, had won 29 winners this season and was employed by John Quinn.

Racing Welfare has already raised more than £100,000 for those directly related to the Malton fire. Visit: www.racingwelfare.co.uk
