Germany’s Anna Warnecke was the best placed of three riders who withdrew before the final horse inspection at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials this morning.
Anna was lying eighth after cross-country with Twinkle Bee.
Two British riders also withdrew: Sara Burdess with Shiver St George (25th overnight) and Aaron Millar with Stormstay (29th overnight).
Aaron Millar was best British first-timer on the post cross-country results sheet. His withdrawal leaves Ginnie Turnbull (Instant Reaction, currently 33rd) in pole position for that accolade.
The final horse inspection, in front of ground jury David Lee, Roeli Bril and Sue Baxter, was uneventful, with not a single competitor sent to the holding box or eliminated.
