Lee Pearson joins Blue Badge crackdown scheme

  • Nine-times Paralympic gold medallist Lee Pearson is helping the government crack down on “Blue Badge abuse”.

Blue Badges provide 2.3million disabled people with parking concessions, but the scheme is open to abuse and the Department for Transport is promoting a “badge-holder best practice” scheme to help it run effectively.

Lee Pearson knows the inconvenience Blue Badge misuse can cause: “My Blue Badge means I can travel independently and get on with my life,” he said.

“Misuse is a serious offence, and it is also totally unfair. As holders, we also have a part to play by not lending our badges to friends. I urge everyone not to take away the benefits from those who rely on them.”
