Actor joins fight to ban horse-drawn carriages from New York

  • AMERICAN actor Alec Baldwin has shown his support for the charity PETA’s (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) campaign to ban horse-drawn carriages in New York.

The actor hosted a special screening of a documentary called Blinders which details the life of the carriage horses in the city last night (19 June).

PETA claims the work is dangerous and unhealthy with horses involved in road accidents and subjected to road fumes and they say horses are kept in poor conditions.

A bill to ban the carriages from New York is being considered by Congress.
