New secretary general for International Equestrian Federation

  • Lawyer Alex McLin has been appointed as the secretary general of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).

FEI President Princess Haya announced the appointment today (10 March).

Mr McLin, 37, who joined the FEI in March 2005, is currently the general counsel and deputy secretary general of the FEI and has been acting secretary general since September 2007.

Princess Haya said: “Alex McLin has shown that he is an excellent leader who has a profound understanding of the need to deliver the plans for horsesport in an expedient and apolitical fashion.”

Previous secretary general Michael Stone left the FEI in August over “irreconcilable differences in the future direction of the FEI”.

He was the third FEI secretary general to resign suddenly in three years.
