Horses and hounds will appear at the funeral of North Staffordshire hunt regular Mike Slater.
Mike, 49, died last week from injuries sustained in a hunting fall near Market Drayton, Shropshire, on Saturday, 2 February.
His funeral will take place at St Leonard’s in Woore, Staffordshire, at 11am on Tuesday, 19 February and is expected to draw a large number of people.
Mike’s coffin will be carried by a horse-drawn hearse around Woore, accompanied by two of his horses, Beamish and Solomon, who will be ridden by two of his closest friends.
At the time of his accident, Mike was following the North Staffordshire hunt, of which he was a member. A number of hounds from the pack will also be accompanying his coffin on its short journey.
A private cremation service will then be held, followed by a reception for friends and family at Woore Victory Hall.
The family has requested no flowers and all donations to go to the North Staffordshire hunt and Air Ambulance — who lifted Mike to hospital on 2 February.
Mike ran Aston Manor Liveries with his wife, Debbie.
She said: “We want the funeral to be a celebration of Mike’s life and for all the people he know to be able to come and pay their respects.”
