New 160km endurance world record set in Dubai

  • Omair Hussain Al Bloushi smashed the world record in the 160km Endurance Cup in Dubai on Saturday, 12 January.

Riding Charlandre El Sharif, the pair completed the ride in six hours, 28 minutes and 28 seconds, shaving 13 minutes off the previous record, in a ride which boasted the highest ever prize money of AED1.5 million (approx £200,000).

European Open champion Jean Phillipe Frances whose horse was eliminated for lameness early on commented: “The pace was amazing, the UAE riders are virtually unbeatable at home.”
