Endurance GB is expected to post a profit for 2007 instead of the £30,000 loss previously predicted.
As the second foot-and-mouth (FMD) outbreak took hold in September, chairman John Yeoman told H&H that the lost revenue was likely to run to “several hundred thousand pounds” due to the cancellation of many rides last summer.
“I overestimated the unrecoverable expenses of rides which were cancelled, due to the generosity of suppliers and venues,” said Mr Yeoman this week. “Fortunately, the second FMD outbreak was over quickly and our autumn ride programme — in particular, the Red Dragon ride in Wales — went ahead.”
He said profits would be less than in 2006, but the organisation’s reserves would remain in place.
