Cast Away II won the seven-year-old World Breeding Trophy at Le Lion dAngers (18-21 October) on his dressage score to crown a brilliant season with Piggy French.
Michael Jung finished second with La Biosthetique Sam and Lucinda Fredericks was third on Prada. Andrew Nicholson maintained his original fourth place with Avebury. Mary King and Kings Temptress rose from 13th after cross-country to finish fifth with one of the few clear rounds in the final phase.
In the six-year-old championship, glory went to Germanys Frank Ostholt on his home-bred mare Quite Easy. Second was Newton De La Love, ridden by British-based Dutch rider Andrew Heffernan.
France’s Camille Piat ended up third with the Selle Français New De La Berchere. Andrew Nicholson and Mr Cruise Control were close behind in fourth.
Sarah Cohen and Trequite moved up from 14th place overnight into sixth place with one of the few show jumping clear rounds. Selina Elliot was just behind in seventh, riding Orlando.
