Burghley to hold final Racehorse to Riding Horse qualifier

  • Burghley Horse Trials (30 August-2 September) is to host the final qualifier for the 2007 Racehorse to Riding Horse Show Championship, sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB).

The class — run here for the first time — will take place on Sunday, 2 September and will be organised by Ponies (UK) in conjunction with the Ponies (UK) Burghley Event Pony class.

The Racehorse to Riding Horse Championship will be held at the Horse of the Year Show in October. The series was launched last year and is open to Thoroughbred ex-racehorses only. Horses need not have raced but the must have been in training.

SEIB instigated the competition to promote the retaining of racehorses and prove how a correctly reschooled racehorse can become a show horse.
