SEAHG summer show: pure-bred Arabian breeding

  • The pure-bred Arabian breeding classes were judged this year by Miss Marlene Pollard (females) and overseas judge Mrs Helen Hennekenns van Ness (males).

The yearling filly class was won by Xquisite Design (Master Design x TS Halinaah), a lovely chestnut who went on to stand as the second reserve junior female champion. Narrowly beaten into second place was Laminiah (Laman HVP x CS Kalliope), a grey filly owned and produced by Silverdale Training Centre.
The yearling colt class was won by Champiaan (Psadisho Ibn Esstashan x Chrapka), a free moving chestnut colt shown by Emma Maxwell on behalf of Mr & Mrs P Atkinson & Howard Price. Champiaan was later presented with the Junior Male Championship and stood as second reserve youngstock champion. Miss H Brown’s Pysche’s Soul (Psytadel x SL Sweet Emotion) took second place in this quality class.
Two chestnut fillies, Electraa SR (Psynergy x Sanskrit Psyche) and RL Cotton Candy (WH Justice x Redwood Lodge Antiguaa), battled it out in the fillies two-year-old class. Electraa SR won the class and went on to stand as reserve champion in the junior female championship and reserve youngstock champion.
Helen Hennekenns van Ness had no trouble in finding her winner of the two-year-old colt class. The beautiful black colt El Mahaal (Mahaala x Ali Luya), owned and bred by Mrs V Wood won the class and went on to be the reserve junior male champion. In second place was Zaak (Mahmoud Shah x Zaffira) who also went on to stand second reserve junior male champion.
VDS Vandalosia (Magnum Psyche x RD Khurious Bey) was an outstanding winner of the fillies three-years-old class and swept the board by winning the junior female championship and was also the youngstock champion of the show.
The three-year-old colt class was won by the well produced grey colt Prince Psyche (Psyche’s First Edition x Bint Shatera).
The gelding one-three years class was won by Shadeen (Om El Shaheen x Nazieka) who went on to stand second reserve gelding champion. Galant (AJA Sanagor x G Garnet) was second.
After much deliberation Helen Hennekenns chose Maartial (Kerim Shah x Maaralisa), owned and bred by Dame Josephine Anderson, as the winner of the geldings four years and over class. This exquisite chestnut gelding went on to win the gelding championship with Naddir (Andrus x Nazieka) taking second place in this class and the reserve gelding championship.
Marlene Pollard chose Aurran (Silver Sceptre x Silver Aura) as her winner of the Crabbet-bred Arabians with the eight-year-old Fairwinds Jedi (Kasadi x Silvered Rosebud) in second place.
Marlene Pollard found her winner of the barren mares born in or after 2001 in Prawica (pictured above) (Ararat x Palmira), beautifully produced by Emma Maxwell on behalf of Mr & Mrs P Atkinson & Howard Price. This breath-taking chestnut filly showed quality in every stride she made and went on to become champion senior female champion and overall in-hand champion of the show. Another outstanding filly Melena IA (Enzo x Waratah) took second place, produced by Rebecca McCormick of the Silverdale Training. Melena IA went on to stand as the reserve senior female champion of the show.
The older barren mare class was won by Misteria (SU) (Balaton x Magnitka) with Mozaka (Medalj x Eka) in second place.
There was just one broodmare forward, bred and produced by the Harwood Arabian Stud. This was Caecilia (Kasadi x Freyr) a lovely grey mare who moved beautifully and had produced a magnificent unnamed three-month old colt foal (OM EL Mareikh x Caecilia) who has a promising future in front of him. They were both commendable winners of their respective classes. Caecilia went on to stand second reserve senior female champion.
Helen Hennekenns chose the four-year-old bay stallion Forever Besson (US) (Besson Carol Pahr x Forever Bint Czar Ahra) as her top junior stallion, just beating Heather Brown’s Prodigy (Psyches Spirit x Perfect Kossack) into second place. Forever Besson (US) later won the male championship, while Prodigy went on to stand second reserve male champion. ELS (Eldon x El Era), an eye catching grey stallion, won the senior stallion class and stood reserve male champion.
