Frankie Dettori will be out of the saddle for two weeks following a hearing of the disciplinary panel of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority this morning (5 July).
The Italian admitted he was guilty of using the whip with excessive frequency and without giving his mount time to respond when partnering Ramonti in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.
Ramonti got up to win the mile contest by a short head, but was close pressed in the final quarter mile by several of his rivals. Frankie struck his mount 25 times in the last two and a half furlongs. The result of the race worth more than £150,000 to the winner still stands.
Frankie will be out of action from 13-26 July inclusive. He will miss the last day of Newmarkets July Festival, but will be back in time for the King George meeting at Ascot. Crucially, this means he will be able to partner Derby hero Authorized in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.
