Graphic Approach loses fight for life

  • Graphic Approach’s plight caught the attention of the country on Grand National day, but after a brave battle, the racehorse has lost his fight for life.

The Charlie Egerton-trained nine-year-old was contesting the Aintree showpiece when he fell at Becher’s Brook on the second circuit. After shedding jockey Paul Moloney, the gelding jumped a running rail and collided with three security guards before collapsing in front of a packed grandstand.

Graphic Approach lay concussed for 40mins and racing was delayed while vets spent 2hr stabilising him. He was moved to Liverpool University and began to recover well.

But after pleasing vets with his progress, he developed pneumonia and was put down on 9 May.
