Heavy horse spectacular

  • The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum at Singleton, near Chichester is hosting a two-day Heavy Horse Summer Spectacular over the weekend of 2-3 June.

More than 40 Shires, Clydesdales, Suffolks, British Percherons and Ardennes horses will take part in a range of events, which will include, for the first time, cross-country driving.

The museum’s own shires will be undertaking seasonal tasks, while other demonstrations — introduced by ringside commentator Sarah Rouse — will include agricultural vehicles, brewers’ drays, harnessing and decoration. There will also be a selection of trade and craft stands.

The museum is open from 10.30am to 6pm, and admission costs £8.25 (adult) or £4.40 (children 5-15). Contact the museum (tel: 01243 811363) or visit www.wealddown.co.uk
