Dublin Horse Show offers richest prize

    • The organisers of the Dublin Horse Show (8-12 August) have underlined their commitment to Irish producers.

    Each class in the working hunter championship at this year’s show, which is restricted to horses bred in Ireland, will carry a prize-fund of 10,000 euros (£6,808), making it the richest working hunting championship in Europe.

    Following the decision to restrict the four-year-old jumping class to only Irish-bred horses last season, the same criterion will apply to the five-year-old equivalent this year. The class carries a purse of 15,000 euros (£10,213).

  • Horse Sport Ireland has a new chief executive. Damian McDonald, who has a background in farming, will take up his appointment in June.
