HOYS
Could there be any better way to mark the end of the summer season than with the brilliant Horse of the Year Show packed full of national championship classes in showjumping and showing, as well as international showjumping competitions and fantastic displays?
Following the cancellation of the 2020 show owing to the coronavirus pandemic, HOYS 2021 went ahead on 6-10 October 2021 at the NEC Birmingham Resorts World Arena. The show always attracts a host of top competitors across the disciplines and this year was no exception.
A win in one of the HOYS showing finals is the pinnacle for any show animal and their connections. The week of showing culminates in the respective supreme horse and pony of the year championships held on Sunday evening.
Displays at the 2021 show were headlined by The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment Musical Ride, with the Musical Ride of the East Cheshire Pony Club also appearing to entertain the crowds. Among the regular family favourites were the adrenaline-filled Pony Club mounted games and the equally exciting to watch scurry driving.
The jam-packed retail village was packed with a host of bargains for both horse and rider.
Horse & Hound was reporting on the action as it happens – scroll down to read all the updates, and read full analysis of the show in our bumper 24-page report in the magazine, on sale Thursday 14 October.
