The Houghton International Horse Trials are set in the impressive grounds of Houghton Hall in Norfolk and take place during May each year.
Since it became an international event in 2007, the competition has gone from strength to strength. The event now welcomes around 700 horses through its gates each year, including more than 350 international competitors.
International classes range from CCI2*-L to a CCI4*-S competition that incorporates a round of the FEI Nations Cup eventing series, welcoming some of the best event riders in the world. Previous winners of the four-star class include Mark Todd, Ingrid Klimke, Tom McEwen, Piggy March and William Fox-Pitt.
Houghton also hosts the CCI3*-L under-21 national championships, providing the opportunity for the public to see some of Britain’s best up-and-coming young eventing talent in action.
On top of all the international action there are more than 70 trade stands and a variety of other equestrian competitions including British Showjumping classes, Burghley young event horse qualifiers, arena eventing and Pony Club team showjumping.
