Tales from the H&H Festival of Dressage: the dancing Dales pony aiming for the top
The eye-catching Dales pony is working at medium level at home and his rider is hoping to take him up through the grades
The inaugural Horse & Hound Festival of Dressage was held at Sheepgate Equestrian, Lincs on 20-22 July.
The three-day unaffiliated competition featured championship classes from intro to medium level, as well as warm-up and evening freestyle competitions, with a prize fund of about £1,000 per level, including winners’ rugs and top-quality prizes.
Combinations at each level took part in classes on the Saturday and Sunday, the combined scores from which will determined each championship winner. There were also extra warm-up classes run on all three days, with freestyles on Saturday evening.
And as well as the dressage, competitors enjoyed a drinks reception on the Friday, a hog roast on the Saturday plus other evening entertainment, giving them all the buzz of a stay-away championship.
