William Whitaker, 17, is BSJA Show Jumper of the Month. A panel of judges voted for William to receive the award for his performance in the senior grand prix at Vigo, Spain where he finished third with Arielle.
“I am really pleased to see my results are being noticed,” William told HHO. Since April 2006 he has been based with his uncle, Michael Whitaker at Whatton, Nottingham and last July won an individual gold medal at the Junior European Championships.
Nicky Riley from Zamar, who sponsor the Show Jumper of the Month award, said: “This is a well deserved award for William. He’s on top from at the moment and the Shojumper of the Month award reflects this and the continuing growth within British show jumping.”
But William is not letting this latest award go to his head. “I want to keep winning and moving up the ranking,” he said. “It would be great to get on the Young Rider team.”
