Tragedy struck the Spanish Sunshine Tour when two young Swiss show jumpers were killed in a car accident on the way to Vejer de la Frontera for the third show of the series.
Laure Gautier and Isabele Grootheart, who were competing in the small tour classes, were travelling with two others, including French rider Isabelle Vachet, when they were involved in a pile-up that resulted in their deaths.
Vachet was seriously injured and is reported to be recovering in hospital.
